The case for MRI-conditional cardiac devices [Infographic]

(BPT) – MRI is increasingly being used to diagnose a multitude of conditions. In fact, more than 34 million MRI scans are performed annually in the U.S. But for someone with a cardiac pacemaker, having an MRI may not be possible. There are more than 4 million Americans with a pacemaker not FDA approved for use with an MRI and 75 percent of those with pacemakers will need an MRI in their lifetime. Now, with MRI-conditional pacemakers, like the BIOTRONIK Eluna Pacemaker, patients may undergo an MRI.
